Periodic email verification of Ymonitor users

We have implemented periodic email verification of Ymonitor users with the goal of preventing unauthorized users from logging in to Ymonitor.

How does it work?

Ymonitor customers can determine the desired frequency for email verification of their users. Customers can choose from Yearly, Quarterly, Monthly, Weekly and Daily. The default is Quarterly.

When users log in to Ymonitor, a check will occur to see when was the last time that user was verified. If the time period is longer than the set email verification frequency, then the user will get a message on logging in that they need to verify their email. They will receive an email to the email address set in their Ymonitor profile and they can verify their email address by opening the email and clicking on the included link. Once verified, they will be able to log in to Ymonitor and continue using it as normal.

Users who do not log out of Ymonitor will be automatically logged out when email verification is required.

When users do not have access to their email, they will not be able to log in to Ymonitor and will have to contact the service delivery team to unlock their accounts.

There are Ymonitor accounts that are excepted from periodic email verification. These are generally service accounts that are used by unattended processes. To register an account as an exception to periodic email verification, please contact your service delivery team.

Example:

John Smith works for company AcmeShipping and logs into Ymonitor every day. The email verification frequency for his company is set to "Weekly". Once a week, when John Smith logs in, he will see the message that he needs to verify his email address. He will check his inbox and click on the link in the Ymonitor verification email. Then he will be able to continue using Ymonitor as usual.

If John Smith does not log out of Ymonitor all week, he will be automatically logged out when email verification is required. He will have to verify his email before he can log in and use Ymonitor again.

After two years of working for AcmeShipping, John Smith decides to move on and work for another company. His accounts with AcmeShipping are closed and he no longer has access to his email. John Smith logs in to Ymonitor, but when email verification is required, he no longer can verify his email and his access to Ymonitor is blocked.
